Maia Palma

Maia Palma is a nationally certified Physician Assistant/Associate (PA-C) with over 20 years experience in pediatrics.
She grew up near Annapolis, Maryland, and earned a full presidential scholarship to University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she majored in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, with a minor in Psychology. She went on to graduate at the top of her class, summa cum laude, from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, earning her PA degree & Masters of Health Science.
Though trained as a PA for all fields of medicine, Maia has always had a passion for pediatrics. She began her career in Virginia Beach, where she practiced in pediatrics for seven years, while also serving military families on weekends in the ER/Urgent Care at Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
A Navy relocation took her family overseas to Japan and then to various locations along the East Coast before settling back in Hampton Roads in 2017. In 2020, she completed a Pediatric Urgent Care Fellowship through Eastern Virginia Medical School and Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, gaining additional expertise in dermatology, orthopedics, sports medicine, and emergency care.
Maia finds joy in all aspects of pediatric care—from newborn visits and well-child exams to adolescent health. She has a special interest in pediatric skin rashes/dermatology, as well as atopic conditions like allergies, asthma, and eczema. Drawing from both her undergraduate background in psychology and her continued study of ADHD, anxiety, and depression, she supports patients with those concerns. As a mom of four, and one of eight siblings, Maia also brings a wealth of parenting insight and compassion to every family she serves.
Outside of work, Maia loves spending time with her children: three sons and one daughter. Maia stays busy with her children’s sports/activities, women’s ministry at her church, and her hobbies: baking (homemade pizza on Fridays is a tradition!), gardening, drinking coffee, traveling, and walking her dog, Gracie Mae.
