Well Visits

compassionate medical care for children in the Hampton Roads area

We offer regular well visits to promote your child’s health and development from birth to 21 years. Well-child visits are an effective way to stay on top of your child’s health needs. At the visit, your pediatrician will evaluate your child’s physical, behavioral, developmental and emotional health.

Visits can include physical measurements, body examinations, nutritional guidance, emotional assessments, discussions about exercise and sleeping needs, screenings, vaccinations, and other tests as needed. As your child matures into adolescence, the pediatrician can also address topics such as sexual health, drug and alcohol abuse, and peer pressure in an age-appropriate way. If you have any concerns about your child’s physical or mental health or behaviors, a well-child visit is an ideal time to address them.

Sick Visits

Our office makes it easy to meet with a clinician whenever your child needs medical care. We offer same-day sick visits and consultations for existing patients. These visits focus on getting your child treatment for illness, injuries, pain or other symptoms as quickly as possible.

Sick visits are available to diagnose and treat common childhood illnesses. However, if your child has a serious illness or severe symptoms, it is important that you take them to the nearest emergency room or call 911 for assistance.

Vaccinations

comprehensive medical care for babies, children and adolescents on the Virginia Peninsula

We believe that vaccinations are an essential part of our work protecting children from serious illness, disability and death. We follow the immunization schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

After Hours / On Call

If you have any concern about your child’s health that you don’t feel can wait until regular office hours, you can call our office 757-599-4090 to be connected to a nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The nurse will offer over-the-phone medical advice and determine whether your child should be seen by a provider that evening, weekend or holiday.

In addition, the Symptom Checker at HealthyChildren.org can help you determine whether your child should see a doctor.

Screenings

Our pediatricians are able to screen for issues such as ADHD, autism, depression, eating disorders, concussions, vision and hearing issues, mental illness, developmental delays, and many other issues that might affect your child’s health. Some of these issues we treat here in our offices, and some we refer to specialists. We have a list of recommended providers for a wide range of issues.
